Pigment of Youth
WHAT DOES SMP LOOK LIKE?
See the Before & After gallery to see the difference SMP can make.
DOES SMP LOOK NATURAL?
Yes. We use pigment made specifically for the scalp and designed to maintain its intended colour. We can also tailor the procedure to suit the result you’d like. For example a male may want an all over ‘buzz-cut’ look including restoring a receded hairline and re-framing the face while a female may just want density on her parting / thinning areas.
WILL IT CHANGE COLOUR LIKE A TATTOO?
No. Scalp micropigmentation is a form of permanent cosmetics, but unlike tattooing or permanent makeup, the pigment is designed to maintain its intended colour. The pigment will only lighten, not discolour over time. Scalp micropigmentation also utilises different equipment than traditional tattooing and is designed specifically for micropigmentation of the scalp.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO APPLY SMP?
In most case 3 sessions are required (10 days apart) to achieve the desired look. The first two sessions are ‘building’ the density and the third session completes the ‘feathering’ and ‘definition’ aspect of the procedure. Sometimes a fourth session is required to achieve the desired result.
WILL THE COLOUR FADE?
With time and sun exposure the pigment can lighten and it may be necessary to have a touch-up just to bring the appearance back to its original high standard. Sun exposure and skin type can affect the time touch-ups may be required. We can touch up or add more density if or when the pigment fades, or if you experience further hair loss.
CAN YOU CREATE A NEW HAIRLINE?
Yes we can. The practitioner will carry out a comprehensive consultation with you prior to the procedure to understand what is important to you and what you are hoping to achieve. You will know exactly what is achievable and what you can expect the end result to look like. A wax pencil is used to demonstrate the position of the hairline that will work for you. Many choices are available from a firmly defined hairline to a soft, jagged or perhaps even a mature, slightly receding effect. We tend to advise a soft line initially making adjustments to reach perfection during the treatment process.
With scalp micropigmentation you are able to fully customize the hairline style that fits you!
HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN SMP?
Following your Scalp Micropigmentation procedure, it is important to take care of the treated area. We recommend the use of a good quality sun block and a hat. This will help ensure the appearance of your procedure stays looking as it was originally intended and help protect you from harmful UV rays.
IS THERE A GUARANTEE?
Yes. Pigment of Youth has a 12-month satisfaction guarantee, commencing from the date of your last session. This guarantee is valid only for those who attend the full series of appointments as outlined in the initial consultation.
WHAT IF I LOSE MORE HAIR?
One of the advantages with Scalp micropigmentation is you can increase the coverage should you experience further hair loss or find it just needs to be thicker in areas. You may also decide you want to cover the entire scalp and create a new hairline. SMP can provides you with options depending on the amount of hair loss and the desired look you’re after.
DOES IT HURT?
Some areas of the scalp may be more sensitive than others. For example, you may feel the treatment more in the temple areas than the crown area. Generally, clients find the pain is less than a regular tattoo and is quite bearable. Some clients have found it can be helpful to listen to some music via headphones so you are not completely focusing on the pain.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
There is no ‘one size fits all’ process that we apply.
The price of your treatment will depend very much on the stage of your hair loss and the type of look you require. It is based on the number of sessions and time required and the complexity of the procedure. A quote can be given via a consultation in person, or if you are able to provide photos to Claudia on request via email.

HOw Often will i need to shave?
It can be down to personal tastes and your speed of re-growth. Most clients tend to adopt a freshly shaved or ‘buzzed’ look shaving every 1-2 days. Letting your hair grow out will adjust the appearance thus we tend to advise that you take care to see what level of grooming is required.
WHAT OF I DECIDE I WANT TO REVERSE THE PROCESS?
Having treated thousands of clients we have yet to experience this issue. Any removal process would be similar to that of a tattoo with the exception that micro pigmentation is only situated within the 2nd dermal skin layer, a conventional tattoo is almost twice as deep. A full reversal could easily be achieved with a laser treatment. We envisage our clients may wish to change their look, perhaps soften a hairline or maybe even recede slightly as an individual becomes older. It is possible to soften a hairline with only 20 minutes of laser treatment.
